India Crushes West Indies by Innings in opening Test.

AHMEDABAD: India delivered a commanding performance to defeat the West Indies by an innings and 140 runs inside three days of the opening Test at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Saturday, taking a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.

India’s batting dominance was underlined by KL Rahul’s solid hundred, backed by impressive centuries from Dhruv Jurel and Ravindra Jadeja. Their collective efforts powered India to 448-5 before declaring at the end of the second day, leaving the West Indies chasing a massive deficit.

Jadeja and Bowlers Seal Comfortable Win

With a lead of 286 runs, India’s bowlers wasted no time dismantling the Caribbean batting lineup. Jadeja led the attack with figures of 4-54, aided by Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Siraj, while India’s fielders produced sharp catches that tilted the game further in their favor.

Nitish Kumar Reddy’s brilliant grab at square leg dismissed Tagnarine Chanderpaul, while Rahul’s low catch in the slips and Jaiswal’s diving effort at backward point highlighted India’s fielding excellence. Kuldeep Yadav’s dismissal of captain Roston Chase left West Indies reeling at 35-4.

Despite a brief resistance from Jayden Seales (22), the visitors were bundled out for just 146, confirming India’s innings victory.

Looking Ahead

The result gives India an early advantage in the series, with the second and final Test scheduled to begin in New Delhi on October 10.
