Bollywood legend Jaswinder Bhalla has died at 65 following a stroke.
The veteran icon passed away on Friday, August 22, at Fortis Hospital in Mohali, a city located in northern India’s Punjab state.
According to Recon Click, he was undergoing treatment for a short illness prior to his untimely death.
Jaswinder, originating from the small town of Doraha in Punjab’s Ludhiana district, enjoyed an impressive career that lasted over thirty years in stage, screen, and academia.
He established a reputation in the Punjabi film industry. His successful films feature Mahaul Theek Hai (1999), Jatt & Juliet (2012), Mr & Mrs 420 (2014), Sardaar Ji (2015), and Jind Jaan (2019).
Jaswinder’s last on-screen performance was in the 2024 movie Shinda Shinda No Papa, featuring Gippy Grewal and Hina Khan.
After his unexpected passing, numerous celebrities and political figures honored the deceased actor.
Punjab’s chief minister Bhagwant Mann termed his demise as “profoundly sad” in a message on X.
He expressed, “The unexpected loss of Jaswinder Bhalla Ji from this life is profoundly heartbreaking. “The heart feels sorrow from the absence of the Chhankata’s jingle.”
The politician stated, “May Waheguru provide him with a spot at His feet. “Chacha Chatra will forever live on in our hearts.”
Please be aware that Jaswinder Bhalla’s funeral will take place on Saturday (23 August) at the cremation ground in Balongi, Mohali.
