Mother Affected by Floods Loses Triplets in Wazirabad, Punjab.

WAZIRABAD: In a heartbreaking event, three infants lost their lives in flood-hit Wazirabad because their mother could not obtain ‘prompt’ medical care.

Rescue officials report that the infants – two daughters and a son – died as floodwaters obstructed hospital access, leaving the family without emergency assistance.

The sorrowful mother expressed that the nearby hospital was engulfed by floodwaters, and if medical help had been provided promptly, her infants could have lived.

The event took place on August 28 close to Nala Phalko, where the woman had to give birth in a car because the roads were flooded.

District administration officials, however, explained that after the family’s call, a rescue team arrived at the site, but the deliveries had already occurred.

They stated that both the mother and infants were initially assessed as stable, but the mother refused to be moved to the hospital.

This tragic situation underscores the escalating humanitarian crisis in Punjab’s flood-affected regions, where interrupted transport and scarce medical resources persist in putting vulnerable lives at risk.

Punjab is suffering from severe flooding as India persists in discharging water into Pakistani rivers.

In another development, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and mobile network providers have prolonged the availability of complimentary voice minutes in flood-impacted regions of Punjab.

“Due to ongoing floods affecting different regions of Punjab, Cellular Mobile Operators (CMOs), together with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), have declared specific relief initiatives for those impacted,” the PTA stated.
