Huawei unveiled the MateXTs, its second smartphone promoted with a three-fold design, claiming at a consumer product event in China that the form factor is innovative and gaining traction.
Mate XTs is the successor to the attention-catching Mate XT, a device launched in 2024 to significant acclaim as the initial smartphone in a fresh design.
Orders for the newest model are scheduled to commence today (4 September), with deliveries anticipated by the month’s end. Prices begin at CNY17,999 ($2,522), a bit lower than the previous model that was priced from CNY19,999 at its release.
Modifications from the original feature a Kirin 9020 chipset, an enhanced rear camera system, and the integration of Huawei’s newest operating system.
The gadget features two hinges, allowing the use of screens measuring 6.4 inches, 7.9 inches, or 10.2 inches based on the folding design.
Additional specifications feature a 50MP primary camera and a 5600mAh battery.
Huawei advertised the device as offering productivity on a large screen and AI features, emphasizing a multi-window mode for multitasking and app connectivity for PCs.
It includes a stylus to assist with tasks and leisure activities.
In Weibo posts related to the launch, Huawei remarked that the smartphone showcases an “exceptional design,” emphasizing that the “avant-garde three-fold form” is “gaining traction.”
The company also shared an update on the adoption of its latest Harmony OS5, with over 14 million devices currently utilizing the software. It is available on over 50 types of hardware
