India-Pakistan Not a Rivalry Anymore: Suryakumar.

India Dominates Again with 11-3 T20 Record; Suryakumar Says Rivalry Label No Longer Fits After India’s six-wicket win over Pakistan in the Asia Cup Super Four match on Sunday, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav sparked headlines by downplaying the traditional cricket rivalry between the two South Asian giants.

India’s continued dominance in T20s — now leading 11-3 in head-to-head matches — has, according to Suryakumar, ended the perception of a “genuine rivalry.”

India’s Commanding Record Against Pakistan

Sunday’s victory extended India’s T20 record against Pakistan:

  • India wins: 11
  • Pakistan wins: 3
  • 🤝 Tied games: 1
  • Suryakumar addressed the media post-match:
“In my opinion, if two teams compete in 15-20 games and the score is 7-7 or 8-7, that can be termed a rivalry. Yet 13-0, 10-1… I’m unaware of the stats, but this is no longer a rivalry.”

The match was played in Dubai, as part of the Asia Cup Super Four stage. Notably, no handshakes were exchanged between players, reflecting the broader political tensions between India and Pakistan following their military standoff earlier this year.

Missed Catches and Team Discipline

Despite the win, India had lapses in fielding, dropping four catches during the game. Suryakumar addressed the issue lightly but acknowledged room for improvement: The fielding coach emailed the boys with butter fingers, asking them to come to his office,” he joked.

But it’s part of the game. I’m fine with it since it happened in the very first match — we have more important games ahead.”

India will face Bangladesh in their next Super Four clash on Wednesday in Dubai, where they aim to tighten up fielding performance ahead of the finals.
