The United States Strategic Metals (USSM) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Pakistan’s Frontier Works Organization (FWO) to collaborate on exploring and developing essential minerals.
The signing event occurred at the Prime Minister’s residence on Monday, with high-ranking officials from both parties present.
Zachary Harkenrider, the Acting Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Islamabad, was present with the USSM delegation for the event.
Enhancing Two-Way Relationships.
Appreciating the development, Chargé d’Affaires at the US Mission in Pakistan Natalie Baker characterized the MoU as “yet another instance of the strengthening of the mutually advantageous relationship between the US and Pakistan.”
She remarked that these agreements are essential for enhancing economic collaboration, highlighting that the Trump administration emphasized bilateral partnerships in the minerals industry because of its significance for American security and growth.
Essential Minerals & Energy Stability.
Located in Missouri, US Strategic Metals focuses on producing and recycling essential minerals.
These materials—identified by the US Department of Energy as crucial for advanced manufacturing and energy generation—are deemed essential for clean energy technologies, defense sectors, and high-tech uses.
Baker conveyed hope regarding the prospects of these partnerships, saying: “We anticipate upcoming agreements between American firms and their counterparts in Pakistan’s minerals and mining industry.”
