OTE Group signed final agreements for the sale of Telekom Romania Mobile Communications for a total of €70 million, with the asset divided between Vodafone Group and Digi Romania.
According to the agreement, Digi will invest €40 million for the prepaid operations, certain spectrum rights, and a portion of Telekom Romania’s tower assets, whereas Vodafone will pay €30 million for the rest. Numbers are prior to any standard modifications.
The agreement comes after a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by the three in October 2024. OTE observed that the Romanian Competition Commission had already approved the agreement.
Kostas Nebis, chairman and CEO of OTE, stated that the agreement was completely in line with a strategic emphasis on optimizing the portfolio and “increasing shareholder value.”
“The deal with Vodafone and Digi will support infrastructure investments, promote more effective network development, and improve customer service, aiding the ongoing digital transformation of Romania’s economy and society,” he stated.
In the company’s announcement regarding the agreement, Vodafone Group CEO Margherita Della Valle emphasized that the action “enhances our standing in Romania, by boosting our local scale and realizing considerable synergy advantages.”
“It bolsters our plan to establish robust footholds in expanding markets, allowing us to invest in the reliable, high-quality networks that our clients depend on.”
